Jumble madness

Yes, we did survive...just!

As reported earlier mother and I popped off to a mega jumble sale yesterday. We got there nice and early and this was the queue that greeted us...flippin heck! These people must have camped out all night!

This is a regular jumble which is held for charity and run by volunteers who do a wonderful job. There's always piles and piles of clothes, toys, books, fabrics, bric-a-brac, accessories and household items and most of it is pennies rather than pounds.

Before the doors were opened to the masses we could hear clapping and cheering, we put this down to someone doing a motivational speech to get the troops ready for the pending surge followed by frenzied grabbing and elbowing. I think I would have been a bit nervous if I was in there waiting.

Then the doors were opened and in we poured...

This is the main room but there was another one full of toys and children's clothes it was total mayhem - great!

We ended up coming away with a few nice bits and bobs. Mum bought an eiderdown for £1:50 which just needs a little patch to cover a hole and a good clean (mums a bit of a wiz with the sewing needles so that won't be a problem). She also bought a bag of books for Norm.

I bought a few vintage children's books, some vintage toys, 2 scarves, and some items from the bric-a-brac ladies, who were lovely and chatty. We also picked up a few jumble bruises, all good fun though!

  1. I went thrifting yesterday and the good weather must have brought everyone out of their homes because everywhere I went it was crowded.

It sound like you and you mum had fun. Have a great week! La

  2. I've just noticed that the only person in the room to notice that I'd popped onto the stage to take a photo is the little baby in the backpack carrier thingy, everyone else is eyes down and going for it :)
