Wonderful open studios in Drybrook

Last Saturday my mum, my sister and I popped over to the nearby village of Drybrook to visit the open art studios of Nigel Lambert and Mariette Voke. They live in a wonderful cottage with lovely views and a beautiful garden. Nestled in the garden's foliage are pieces of artwork and quirky objects, it really is a magical place and I must say I get quite excited when news is out that they are opening their doors to the public.
I'm pretty sure you'll love it too.

Here are a few pieces of Nigel's work. The small green and blue bowl on the bottom row on the far left now belongs to me :)

Nigel's website can be found here: http://www.nigellambertpotter.co.uk/ - take a look.

Some of Nigel's work in progress...

This is where Nigel's ideas become reality in his studio.

This is Mariette's studio where she works on her lovely paintings. I first came across Mariette's work about two years ago during another of the open studio days and was instantly blown away!

I think I might have made a bit of a burk of myself because I was extremely gushy and stuck my nose into everything. Mariette was probably relieved to see me go thinking I was some kind of mad woman or stalker!

SORRY MARIETTE!!

As it's my 40th birthday in October I've been dropping some (not so subtle) hints to my family that I really wouldn't be offended if they could help me buy a Mariette original for my front room. I'm determined to own one.

Watch this space because when I get my hands on one you'll be the first to know.

And here's Mariette's work - it speaks for itself...

What a fantastic space to work in.

If you want to know more about Mariette's work then sneak a peek at her web page, http://www.mariette-artist.co.uk/

All around the garden were amazing pieces of artwork.

These doves aren't actually real they were made by Mariette, they fooled us. We all wanted one but unfortunately they'd all been snapped up - no surprises there!

The couple even have a delightful little car and caravan.

We loved this place so much Nigel and Mariette very nearly had three squatters to deal with!!

  1. What an amazing blog!! So glad the name caught my eye when i had a peek at Lucy's this morning.

I'll be back - often. Glad you like Lyme Regis. I have lived here for ages and my children go to school in Lyme but I rarely get the chance or make the time to wander round Lyme.

    Take care.

  2. Colette, thanks for your kind words. I only started blogging at the tale end of last year but I think I'm getting a little addicted!

You're so lucky to live by the sea, I used to live in Brixham in Devon for a while and loved it, maybe one day in the future I'll be able to move to somewhere similar again :)

  6. Thanks Gigibird, I wasn't too sure if some of the photos would come out because of the glare of the bright sunshine. But all was well x
