Our black and white past.

When I visit an auction room I always find myself drawn to old black and white photographs or post cards. I love the clothes and the history of them and I can't help wondering who the people are and what their stories might be. I bought this group of photographs recently and they're absolutely fascinating, with a good splattering of odd characters...

Some of them have lovely little messages in the back written in beautiful hand writing, the popular names of the day seemed to be Molly, Polly, Dolly and Mabel, sounds like a title of a children's book doesn't it!

  2. Hi La, I'm having a good week thanks. I've taken two days off work to finish off a few bits and bobs for my stall. I'll show you some pictures when I'm done.

I hope all's good with you too xx

  3. Don't you build a story in your head about the people in the photos? My Dad used to own an auction house and I always looked through the old photos and letters. The sad thing is they usually ended up being thrown away in the end. It is sad to think that there wasn't family who either could or were able to have them. What are you going to do with them? Good luck with the stall making. How much longer?

  6. Lovely photo's i to collect the odd ones i could spend hours looking through them and wondering the same things about them, And the great thing about black and white photo's of the past is they tell you so much, about the period of the past. Not like photo's of today. I have a few photo's that were made into postcards and i love to read the writing on them and letters they were made into. I enjoyed your post it was lovely. Have a lovely weekend. Dee x
