Our black and white past.
When I visit an auction room I always find myself drawn to old black and white photographs or post cards. I love the clothes and the history of them and I can't help wondering who the people are and what their stories might be. I bought this group of photographs recently and they're absolutely fascinating, with a good splattering of odd characters...
Cool pictures, Lizzie. I hope you are having a wonderful week. La
ReplyDeleteHi La, I'm having a good week thanks. I've taken two days off work to finish off a few bits and bobs for my stall. I'll show you some pictures when I'm done.
ReplyDeleteI hope all's good with you too xx
Don't you build a story in your head about the people in the photos? My Dad used to own an auction house and I always looked through the old photos and letters. The sad thing is they usually ended up being thrown away in the end. It is sad to think that there wasn't family who either could or were able to have them. What are you going to do with them? Good luck with the stall making. How much longer?
ReplyDeleteColette I'm not too sure what to do with them really, I'll find something.
ReplyDeleteMy stall will be on the 4th & 5th and 11th & 12th so not long now...
Oooo exciting. Hope this year is as good as last year. keep thinking when the pups go i shall get down to some crazy making for my half of the stall at the late night shopping on the 8th in Bridport.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo's i to collect the odd ones i could spend hours looking through them and wondering the same things about them, And the great thing about black and white photo's of the past is they tell you so much, about the period of the past. Not like photo's of today. I have a few photo's that were made into postcards and i love to read the writing on them and letters they were made into. I enjoyed your post it was lovely. Have a lovely weekend. Dee x
