Boot sale findings

Today was boot sale day and this time I managed to get there early. I didn't even hang about to brush my hair before stepping out of the front door, that's how keen I was.

I'm glad I made the effort because I had a particularly good shopping day, just take a little look at this lot...and this isn't all of it.

I found this great little table easel and an old boxed set of hankies, I bought them for the box but the original hankies are still inside having never been used.

Two old tins that I thought i could store paint brushes and pencils in, a wooden toy truck, and a silver dish (plated not solid silver).

I was chuffed to bits to find a mini pair of antlers. I've wanted a pair for a while but they sell for more than my budget will allow.Up until now I've only been able to hope I would come across a pair whilst walking in the forest (very unlikely to happen). On the same stall I found these lovely linens, all hand stitched.

At the moment I'm trying to gather together interesting old items to star in my still life paintings for my exhibition being held in December. I really need to get a move on with it.

The lady that sold this doll to me said that she had bought it 41 years ago in Finland. She's really looked after her. I think she may have to have a stint in the freezer though (the doll not the lady that sold it to me!!), just to kill anything off that might be lurking under that hat!

Old Finland Fanny wasn't the only doll purchased....oh no...

There were these two as well.

a cute wooden doll with 'just got out of bed' hair...mine looked like this too this morning.

and this tiny doll who has a head just a tad too big for his body and hypnotic eyes, mmm a little unnerving.

but it doesn't stop there. My sister and I went halves on a box of old dolls and then divided them up between us.

I also found this old pack of happy families. I don't know how old they are but the illustrations on them are lovely.

Nobody at my school had a dad who was a professional Pierrot...oh how times have changed.

Mr & Mrs Hake look nice but my favorite has to be Archie Artichoke, just for the name alone.

To finish off my frenzied shopping spree I treated myself to a gorgeous bunch of flowers. The old chap selling these sold out in ten minutes flat and packed up and went home. It must have been the easiest days work he'd ever done.

I hope you're all having a brilliant Sunday and I'd like to say a huge thank you for all the kind comments on my last post xx

  3. You did well!
I think the Finland doll is a "Roasebud" doll as I think is the 'Pearly Queen' doll dressed in black is. If you manage to find out the name is embossed on their backs, I love the wooden Polish doll too. You're right the 'little boy dolly is a bit unerving! Hope you didn't mind me saying about the 'Rosebud'dolls?
