Kerby kitten update

First off I'd like to say a big thank you to all of you who left lovely comments about little Kerby.

Sadly our 'be OK' vibes haven't worked because after initially getting the all clear from the vets things took a turn for the worst and the only kind thing to do was to have her put to sleep.

At first the vet thought that her leg was the only problem and so she was given pain killers and she was wormed. She was eating well and seemed to be a happy little thing but half an hour before I was due to bring her home I got the call to say that whilst they were getting her ready to be collected they had noticed that her back end was abnormal and that due to her age an operation would certainly kill her (and it probably wouldn't have worked anyway). So the sad decision was made and she went gently to sleep.

Although she was only with me one night I feel really sad for her (it did turn out that she was a she), it's awful to think that someone was too bone idle to get her looked at and cared for, but then I guess that's just the world we live in.

As a result of this drama I've decided to rescue another cat. I've put my name down on the vets re homing list and I may well pop along to the cat's protection centre and have a look. So watch this space...xxx

  1. Oh, I am so sorry. At the very least, she did not meet her end on the road, and had comfort and love at the last of her short life. I really, really despise the kind of people who would rather dump an animal rather than take it to a rescue centre. Good luck with your next one (and I bet you end up with two!)

  8. This story is so so sad, but how quickly did that kitty get into your heart! - they're amazing creatures and maybe you'll soon rescue another or.. several..in which case this kitty affected alot in her short life.

  9. You gave that sweet baby the best day of it's short life I'm sure. Plus she was able to pass in the company of those who cared, rather on the side of the road in the rain. Bless you.

  10. I'm so sorry. :-( I should have read farther along before posting anything. At least little Kirby had you in her life for a short time, and she knew the care and comfort of human love. Again, I'm very sorry.
