I've signed myself up to sell at a local country market.

Hello everyone, I hope your not drowning in all this rain we've been having lately. I swear I'm starting to grow gills!

Thank you all so much for the lovely comments left after my last post, it's always a thrill to hear from you all x

In my last post I said that I would give you a sneaky peek at my home which I still intend to do but due to this grey weather I've not had enough light to take any decent photos. I want to show you the bathroom but there's hardly any natural light coming into that room so I'll hold off until it all brightens up a bit.

Anyway, onto today's post...this morning I packed a small suite case with my creative bits and bobs and headed to a nearby village to see if the organizers of the local country market would accept me as a seller.

After a brief chat and a look at my products I was delighted to be told that I was 'in', on the understanding that I pay the hefty joining fee of 5p (that's not a typo it was just 5p!). Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and were selling top quality handmade/home produced goods.

I bought a Stilton and Walnut quiche, a jar of onion marmalade and a bottle of sweet cider. I love the fact that everything is local, meaning that nothing has travelled very far.

After dropping the sweet cider of with my Dad I returned home to tuck into my goodies. I only wish you could taste that quiche and onion marmalade. It was absolutely spot on, I should have bought more!

This particular market is held every Saturday between 10:30 and 12:30 at Newnham on Severn in The Forest of Dean so if you live locally pop by and say hello and if you're passing through come on in and get yourself a little treat.

But failing that hunt out your own local market and lend your support, you won't be disappointed I'm sure.

    1. Hi Pippa
It was just a go and take a look day for me but I'll be taking my felt creations, etched bottles, some new designs of brooches that I'm working on and a few other bits.

I know what you mean about the jams and relishes, they're my favorite too. The lady selling the crocheted lovelies was very chatty and we had a good natter about pricing (which is always a tricky one!) x

  2. Hello. Yes our local market looks just the same, I wonder if the tableclothes Are a kind of uniform??

Good luck with your selling. Do you have to do a stint behind the tables?

Nice to hear from you. Hope everything is going well xx

  3. Hello there lovely Poppy Cottage,

Perhaps they do all have the same table clothes, I'll investigate and report back with info. Thanks for the good luck. I figure there's no harm in trying these things. If I don't sell much then at the very least I will have made some new friends and that can't be bad can it? I will be doing a stint at selling so I'll have to start practicing my market patter 'Roll Up! Roll Up! Get yer lovelee lavender bags here! - what d'ya think?

By the way, I think I've lost your blog off my followers list(?)Do I still show up on your list of followers? I'll see if I can bring it back. I know I haven't deleted it...flippin Blogger!
