I can't hold it in any longer...

For months I've been itching to tell you about my big sister Jo who has been chosen to be one of the lucky Olympic torch bearers!!!

Whoop!Whoop! Go Jo, Go!!!!!

For anyone reading this from outside the UK and doesn't know what the heck I'm on about what's happening is that on the lead up to the start of the London Olympics the Olympic torch will travel around the UK carried in relay by 8,000 inspirational people.

The journey is going to take 70 days and will pass within 10 miles of 95 per cent of the population on it's way to London.

As you can imagine we are all extremely proud of Jo and we're all so excited to be going to watch her run in Hereford on the 24th May.

For anyone in the area Jo will be running at 12:31pm on Commercial Road near Union Walk. Please come along and cheer her on she would love it and it might calm her nerves.

The reason Jo was selected to do this once in a life time run is because of her charity work she does for local blind people in The Forest of Dean. We have a local charity called Forest Talk which produces a free weekly recorded 'newspaper' for reading impaired people. This enables them to keep in touch with the local area events.

As part of her selection Jo was invited to the Savoy Hotel in London for lunch and to officially be told she had been selected as a torch bearer and also to collect a cheque for her charity. She got to hold a torch for the first time too.

Jo is the first on the right.

Also at the lunch was Johnathan Edwards, the UK's former Olympic triple jumper (you can just see him in the background) Jo was seated next to him at the lunch and got to hold his gold medal - he's obviously a trusting chap!

Last week Jo took possession of the official torch bearer track suit, apparently the trousers are a little snug around the bum so I don't think there will be many warm up stretches being done pre run!

So all that said, please wish Jo good luck for the run and pray that her flame doesn't go out and that she's not the headline story of the 6 o'clock news!!

This is Jonathan Edwards (just in case you couldn't put a face to the name)
